Rampal Paso devi Silai Kendra, Patni, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh
After successfully running projects in five states the sixth destination of Gangaram Motiram Goel Sewa Sanstha was Uttar Pradesh. The activities and also the concept of the Sanstha impressed many people to take up similar activities. The beginning of Rampal Pasodevi Silai Kendra at Patni village in Saharanpur district of Western Uttar Pradesh on July 15, 2013 was one such step. The project was started by Smt Usha Saini after her parents in her native village, which is about 11 km from Saharanpur city. Within one year, the Centre drew attention of the women and girls from seven surrounding villages. Till now about 85 girls have received training from the project and 15 girls are undergoing training. Impressed with the results of the project, the Punjab National Bank has donated state-of-the-art Sewing machines to the project so that the women and girls can sharpen their skills more perfectly. The project has drawn the attention of not only the villagers but also the top officials of the administration. Smt Archana, wife of Saharanpur Commissioner and Smt Shakuntala, wife of Additional District Magistrate, visited the project on February 4, 2014 and applauded the efforts and the results achieved. A leading fashion designer of Saharanpur, Yashmin, has also started providing special guidance to the girls. The training imparted at this project is unique in many ways as efforts are made to make the girls a complete modern tailor. This is the reason many women and girls take up tailoring work from Saharanpur city and earn handsome money. This has proved to be a good helping hand to their respective families.
